Just after Pont Royal the canal went through a cutting with passing places every kilometre. After negotiating this we stopped for lunch. A Swiss boat joined us as we were about to set off after lunch so we shared the work at the locks. At last we reached Pouilly and decided to pass through the tunnel right away. This meant that I had to remove the wind charger mast as this was too high for the tunnel roof. I got it down in ten minutes.
The 3km tunnel was an eerie experience as we did not have a very good light and there were fumes from the last boat through. We made it and celebrated with a drink.
